My Attitude To Mattie In True Grit

Mattie does not seem to be a trustworthy narrator. Most people stretch the truth in order to make a normal adventure appear dangerous. Mattie may be faking the truth for fun. No one is interested in a tale about cleaning the bathroom or washing the dishes. Mattie wrote an interesting story because people like to read stories.

Mattie describes the scene in great detail to ensure that the reader is able to imagine it. If a reader can visualize the scene they are thinking of, they will believe it is true. Mattie exaggerated her cave, in which she frequently fell. Mattie claims that the cave was dark and cold, but not completely dark. She continued to say that it was shocking for her to notice how her arm was bent. It takes me a little while to adjust when I leave a bright space, like being outside in the daylight, and go into a dim place, such as an underground cave or basement. My eyes take about a half-minute to adjust. She wouldn’t have seen her arm in an abnormal way until it became dark. She is trying to convey this part of her story as quickly as she can, with the least amount of detail. This will make the reader think that the event was very intense and happened in a hurry.

Mattie’s pit was too small for her. She decides to use a wedge as she falls through the hole. She reaches out for a blue shirt, grabs a wooden stick and pulls it towards her. Soon, she discovers that it’s attached to a deceased person. Mattie says there were forty snakes in the chest of the deceased person (“True Grit”) Snakes are not typically found in packs or herds. She lied when she said that there were forty snakes.

I believe that everyone has lied at some point. There would be less interesting stuff if everyone was telling the truth. It makes stories fun, such as True Grit. The readers find it difficult to separate fact from fiction. Mattie stretches her truth as Rooster accused of “stretching a blanket”.
